The Olive-Egger thread!

Yes, I did peel the membrane off the inside on the left side of the photo (to reveal the olive color).

You have a good memory Ron. I checked and it was three years ago that I posted this! Back then you suggested it could be a thin-shelled egg (as in, the inner blue she'll never formed). It didn't feel thin-shelled though, so I like the porous explanation better. Normally, I would not have noticed the color under the membrane, but at the time, I was peeling the membranes off all my used eggs and saving the shells for an egg-shell mosaic.

Very nice art project! Love it! It's so cool that you used the natural egg colors. I recently did an egg shell mosaic on a gourd and am in the process of one with a rooster and hen. However, my mosaic is just the accent though.

Please, please tell me what you used to put it together and what you used for a canvas. I love the used egg shell idea for a mosaic. You did a wonderful job on it.

Curious if you sealed this with something?
I've noticed with saved shells the brown coating can really change after a while.

this is my Oliver egger. Up until 2 weeks ago she was Olivia. Now at 16 weeks he is Oliver. I was told his daddy was a maran and mama ee. As you can see he does have feathered legs. It's the comb and crest. On another thread they told me a pea comb and single comb combo wouldn't make this comb. Is it a cushion? I have a ba and ss, would I have any chance at a colored egg with either hen? Sorry rec

I surrendered but

anyway sit back enjoy tell us about your birds
maybe..
I have a question for the group how do you candle your olive eggs?

I was very wrong about this..... I have 7 pullets and 3 cockerels. Now why don't I ever get that kind of ratio on my BCMs.

VERY pretty! I'm hoping to have my first batch of OE soon that will combine Legbars, BCM, Blue Marans, Splash Marans, and Biels. Out of all of that I surely hope to get some OE girls!
