The Olive-Egger thread!

I've just read through this lengthy thread and at times I thought I got it and then I'd end up more confused. So I just want to ask straight out:

I have a Black Copper Marans Roo, and an Ameraucana hen that lays bright blue eggs. If I incubate these eggs, will the chickens that hatch out lay olive eggs?

That's basically the question, because if it will take more generations and specific breeding, then I will have to just get some olive eggers some other way!

that SHOULD give you a really nice olive egger offspring... you'll have to hatch them and wait for them to lay and post pics.. lol..

Hi,

I have no idea about the history of this bird, but she lays the nicest olive green eggs! She was probably full grown when I bought her and I didn't know much about chickens at the time. I just got her because I thought she was so pretty!

This is a picture of one of her eggs:

She didn't lay right away and I was about to give up hope when, one day, I saw her in the nest. When she left the nest, I found the egg in the picture. I never expected an olive green egg and was I ever shocked! I called DH right away to tell him I found a GREEN egg. I promptly named her "Olive"! She has been laying the olive green eggs ever since, but does take a break once in a while.

I know I haven't offered any useful information, but I just wanted to share!

here is a Olive egger cockerel that I am going to list on eggbid today. His Sire is Marty my FBCM and his mother is a wheaton Ameraucana. As I mentioned earlier this pairing only makes blue chicks with muffs and beards and peacombs, and least so far all have been that way. I think he is going to be beautiful but do not have room for another roo so he needs a home. If anyone is interested contact me as I will happily give a great BYC price

Wow- he is NICE! I wonder how you got all blues though with black copper over wheaten. That's awesome!
I will have to rethink my chicks now. Usually with BBS- orps, cochins & rocks- I can color sex them at a few days. He's an exception to the rule- so I might have to give my babies more time.

I have no idea why this combo is only throwing blue chgicks but I am very happy about it. The babies are so pretty and i have 2 pullets I am keeping for myself that are georgeous. Now if the darm Ameraucana hen would just start laying again I could hatch more but she up and quit on me with the rest of the flock. I still dont know why.
