Our Olive Eggers are 17 weeks now... my son and I can wait for them to start laying... hopefully in the next month or so

I love their poofie cheeks and beards... such cuties!

hipeatall, are those Barred OEs from onthespot? If so, I can't wait to get some eggs from her next year! Those birds are so pretty!

My little olive eggers from Wynette are growing up and are such sweethearts, very curious, but very docile and quite friendly. So much so that I....wait for it....kept my first ROOSTER!!

That's right, we were running a chicken nunnery over here, but when it came down to it, I just couldn't give this little guy away. Granted, I have been lucky and a local organic farm that is literarily chicken heaven (http://ashevilledoublegranch.com) has so far been able to take all my extra roosters including his brother, so his other option wasn't a bad one either.

But, my egg customers go crazy over funky colored eggs, so I figure he'll be a great match for producing more fun colored egg layers in the future with my BC Maran, EE, Ameraucana, OE and Wellsummer hens.

Handsome blue fella and such a sweet little gentleman, I love all the copper that's coming out, can't wait to see what he's like all grown up...

Fella and one of his "ladies" (hopefully you guys can confirm that, I'm leaning towards girl, but I've been wrong in the past...)

*Side note, names haven't quite presented themselves to me for these little muffins, so let me know if you have suggestions!!

OH! They are SO pretty! Yes, the black one with your boy is a girl! That blue one is just GORGEOUS!

Did you say how old they are now? I can't wait until you begin getting eggies from them!

I'm absolutely in love with them

, you were so right on about their personalities, sooooo laid back and easy going!

The little blue girl is SO gorgeous, my husband (a chicken appreciator, but not really a chicken lover) had previously never made a comment (unless I provoked him with a..."isn't such-n-such the cutest thing?") regarding the "prettiness" of a chicken until this little girl, he is SO taken with her, its sweet.

They're just now 9 weeks old, sooooo we've got a little while before we start seeing olive eggs, but I can't wait!!

Awe...that's sweet about your hubby! I wouldn't say my hubby is quite an appreciator, but he....hmm....appreciates my love for them, I guess! Wow - I thought they were older! They're big!!!

That's actually probably a much better description of my husband as well. He's definitely partial to my bearded chickens though, having a beard himself.

I meant to mention that, they are big!!!! I was just looking for a picture of them next to one of my grown girls for a size comparison and found this one of several of the OEs with an 8 month old EE, though not the greatest picture, it does show how big they truly are for 9 weeks!

*Cute side note, this particular EE, Charlotte, is such a sweet girl. When their hatch mom, Lucy, abandoned them when they were 4 wks old to go back to her single lady lifestyle, Charlotte completely adopted them as her own. They sleep all nestled around her on the roost and follow her everywhere, its really sweet.
