The Olive-Egger thread!

spunkychickenmomm,
What color chicks did you get? I just hatched out some Lavender Ameraucana's and want to breed to my Marans. Just interested in what the chicks may look like. Thanks Michele

Expecting my OEs in the next couple days! In lockdown with the eco 20 (brinsea). Can't wait to see the colors out of the non-standard ameracaunas X FCBM roo, as the hens were blue/gray, white/splash, etc.

The dark green eggs are from first generation OE hens (color is better on my avatar due to lighting issues on this pic) bred back to the FCBM dad. The blue eggs are the non-standard ameracauna (pure but wrong colors due to breeding the "wrong" colors together) crossed with FCBM.

Wow cool chart!! come on avocado lol. Do you know of anymore charts like that? Can you get printed copies do you think? Would be neat to have on the egg room wall with the marans chart and ameraucana chart:)

AWESOME colors!!! forgive my ignorance but what's FCBM? I love the OEs you've got, are you sharing any yet?:)

I have 3 cockerels that came out white with some red starting to show through in the back and wing area, pea combs, 2 with beards and tufts, 1 clean faced. I have 1 cockerel that turned out a rust color with black markings on his neck, pea comb, small beard and tufts. I have 3 that pretty much look like their Welsummer daddy, single combed, no beards or tufts. My hens however, OMG! They all have lavender laced with varying degrees of red, pea combs, beards and tufts. They are gorgeous! I have someone who is wanting to buy a few of the pullets from me but I don't know if I can part with such beautiful birds.
It has been raining here the past couple of days so they are kind of messy right now after scratching for worms.
I will try to take some pics and post this weekend.
Maybe Illia can help me out with the colors.

BEAUTIFUL. I adore your speckles...my original OE goal was for a heavily speckled olive egg (like your brown one, but green).
FCBM = French Coppered Black Marans...is that not what laid your speckled dark brown egg?

Are you asking if one hen laid all the eggs in my incubator shot? No, I have eggs there from three non-standard Ameracaunas, two OEs, three Black Javas, and two FCBMs. :)

This is my test hatch to see if my OE pullets are laying eggs big enough to be viable yet, etc. I may share some soon. :) Thank you for asking!

Figured out who's laying the lighter green with speckles today, another one cataloged :)

No I was asking if one hen laid all of them in your avitar basket, except the white ones of course lol I'm not that silly. That egg by the later part of the season is mint and chip icecream colored one of my favorite eggs later. Right now it has a fair amount of brown but is more green than the pic shows. I'm going to have to get my real camera out and see if it takes better egg pictures somehow Iphone just doesn't capture the colors all that well. Let me know when you have some maybe I'll have something you're interested in trading:) Oh and the red speckled egg is just a mixed maran but I kept her because I liked the egg, she's just an all black feather footed hen.

The color of egg that a hen lays does not change. It can vary in intensity but it they don't lay different colors different days.
