The Olive-Egger thread!

Wanted to share a few pics of my OE pullet. I think she is a nice color of blue. Waiting on her first egg. I need to get some pics of her sisyers. I love the feathers of this group. I admit I like to pet my birds.

They have the silkiest quality. Lovely to pet.

OK could not help myself. It is a beautiful Fall day and had to take some photos. I can not wait to set up next years breeding pens.

This is the rooster I think I am going to use. He is still growing. I am pretty sure I want my OEs to have beards.

Beautiful! I love a nice blue bird, and she is gorgeous!

I moved some birds yesterday and one I thought was and EE.... Is an olive egger. I think I will move her back to the Olive Egger pen.

She does not meet my Olive Egger Design (no feathered legs and no beard or muffs) BUT she lays a pretty egg

I have 3 olive eggers that look like yours! I call them the triplets. It has been so hard to figure out which hen lays which egg! One's head is slightly lighter than the other two, but unless they are standing together, I can't really tell. And one has just a little feathering on her legs, but if she is sitting in the nest box, I can't see that.

I crossed my blue olive egger roo (a Marans x Ameraucana from someone else's stock) with a variety of hens, EEs, Marans, olive egger, and 5 of the 7 pullets were blue. The other blue ones are easy to identify because of copper on the neck and cheek tufts, and I got one solid black and one splash.

It's so much fun to hatch olive eggers. I love the surprise when the eggs come along.

Anyone have dark green and or bright green OE eggs for swap? Looking for some to be shipped by Thursday if not tomorrow...I know I know...I just wanna fill my Bator lol....

I'm not sure where to post this so I'm putting it on the OE thread because that's what I plan to do with him. I went to look at at Birchen Marans and saw this guy and had to have him. He came out of a Marans egg from a well respected Marans breeder in Texas. He only has Marans on his farm but this guy has the cheeks of an Ameraucana and doesn't seem to have the body of a Marans. I thought, him crossed with a Lavender Ameraucana would make a nice looking OE.
His name is Powder

Sorry, these are cell phone pics.

I like him. I have 2 chicks that are Marans/Lavender Am. I hope they look like that, except they will have to have a pea comb.

Lavenders SHOULD be Black under the Lavender so when breeding Lavenders they would follow the same rules as BBS breed, But you have to KNOW the Lavenders are BLACK.
