where is Joe Dirt and his wives in all this, may I ask ? did you give them cantalope guts too or are they still in jail for agression towards the Poop-a-lot Gang?

Just curious

Joe Dirt was re-homed, and his ex wives were very cautious of the guts. They are very cautious about many foods as I think they were raised in a very controlled environment. They didn't eat scratch feed, bread, or pellets. All they wanted were the crumbles. I sometimes refer to them as 'The Sisters'. The two are about 16 weeks older than the Gang and were aggressive until the chicks got to a certain size. I don't know if the sisters thought the chicks were food or what, but getting them to a point where they stopped attacking took two weeks and the removal of Joe Dirt.

Meanwhile, the Poop-a-Lot Gang graduated to the Peep-a-Lot Gang, and are a more outgoing than the sisters. They are willing to investigate anything if I'm nearby. I constantly introduced new things in their environment as they matured, and come to me for encouragement when they are confused or worried. The short video I took during the feeding frenzy revealed how they looked at the mass of seed then looked at me as if to say 'what do we do with that?' When I stirred the gunk up they got the idea real quick.

The Gang has always got along with each other and have no idea how to fight the Sisters. They still don't. Occasionally, the two cockerels will spar but never goes further than staring at each other with hackle feathers raised. All is quickly forgotten and they wander off to do their thing. When the gang matures I'll call them the Cluck-a-Lot Gang. Since I'm not interested in breeding I will eventually re-home the two cockerels.

Thanks for asking!

You know I'll keep everyone updated! One of the Sisters is singing her egg song and I hope I'll soon have my first home grown egg in over 25 years!
