They are peeping away in the furnace room and when I get up, my chair squeaks, they all quiet down until I open the door...then all heck breaks lose! They can't be used to that sort of stuff already! Can they?
I still can't believe they are here...I am so excited I swear I just turned 13 years old!
I have a thumb ring and they attack it as soon as my hand touches the floor. I mean, these suckers are brave. The last brood I got they were so skittish and would scatter when I came to the brooder. Not these...they all bunch up on me. Dang! Is this a BR thing? Or are my chicks feisty mutants?

Thanks! Me too! I can't wait for Summer. Today is nice but just a couple of days ago it was wicked cold! I never complain about the heat in Summer...now I know why!
Oh Pedro, I'm so sad for you. Opening a box of dead babies was my worst fear when I ordered my chicks. And all those sweet Buffs! I'd have been a basket case all day!!!
If your little BO survives, I think 'Lucky' is a good name. Or 'Fortunate One'. Is s/he drinking plenty of water?
Glad you at least have some survivors, though and they are adorable.
I know how you feel, though. Last year I had a huge order (including ducks, turkeys and several breeds of chickens) and they arrived dead! The hatchery (which will remain nameless because it was drivers fault, several people had the same thing happen) refunded my money of course, but it was so sad and shocking.
I am so sorry to hear that you lost most of the Orp chicks. That must have been really hard!
Hopefully little Orpy will pull thru and be your freebie, minus the emotional cost you have paid.
I think that it might be a BR trait to be so friendly. I am not one for stripes, but every person who has them swears that they are one of if not the BEST breed.
Good luck, when are they shipping out the other 25?
