The perfect mix of chicks. Which Roo?

Thanks so much for your thoughts. DH and I spent the last 3 days at the ranch and decided living there at this time would be more than we could deal with at the moment---too close to my Dad specifically. Mom is great, but Dad's feathers seem to be easily ruffled.

A little distance is probably better. So I guess we are back to looking for a place closer to where we currently live.

Again, thanks for all your thoughts. I am printing this out for future reference.

I had a cuckoo maran roo who turned mean towards both me and my DH. I had to carry a broom whenever I entered the coop or yard. I was willing to let him get away with that until a week before Thanksgiving when he shredded the back of one on my hens and left her for dead, then attacked my DH when he went in to rescue her. Needless to say, the roo met the end of a 22 rifle.

My son of Suede roo (Claude) is a blue Orpington /Buff Brahma cross. He is only 5 weeks old, and so calm, and so nice. I hope he stays that way, and I hear its in his genes, LOL

Suede is extremely calm and sweet so hopefully, his son will be as well. You definitely want a mellow rooster in one that could take your legs off at the knees, LOL!!
chickenlips, sorry about the CM boy. There are certainly individual differences in a breed. I've heard of highly aggressive Barred Rock roosters, but so far, none of mine, boys or girls have been.
