Kayla walked slowly, making sure to avoid pieces of garbage and cement. she knew where she was, it was somewhere in Chicago, but she was also near a nest, full of them. she knew they liked building's, she had found that out the hard way. she thought sleeping in one would be safe, turned out it wasn't. she held tightly to her black sweatshirt as she climbed into a car, and closed the door. she hid under the seats and closed her eyes, this was the only way she could get some sleep without looking over her shoulder. she locked teh doors and pulled her hood over her head. she sighed in relief and smiled to herself. she had made it 14 miles today. that was progress. as soon as she got out of the city, she would try to find and automobile or a bike, so she could pick up her pace. she hugged her knees to her chest and drifted off into a light sleep.
