I am sitting in the run with my chickens. I see a pitbull show up in my yard with a choker chain hanging from its neck. So I chase the chickens into the coop
and close it up so they don't get excited . Next a guy a few doors down and on the other side of the street looks out his door and I tell him his dog is
over here. I don't know him well but knew it was his dog from another time that the dog scared the hell out of my 89 year old mother when she was visiting.

So he starts to call the dog but it don't care. I tell him I would grab the dog for him but I am afraid of it. He says it has never bitten anyone. But last year he said he
didn't trust it. So now he walks down by my yard but the dogs runs away and is no longer seen. He says the dog will come back. Two hours later I go out and there
is 3 police cars in front of my house. They are looking for the dog and seen it run into the yard next to me. They are afraid of the dog. One of them has the pole with the
noose on it. They ask me if I know who the owner is. I point to the house. I was thinking if i don't tell them the dog will go to the pond and be destroyed. I did not know
if had tags or a computer chip to be identified.
So the police get him and take him to the house. I hear one say I am going to fine the guy. The police tell me if I see the dog running around I should call them
immediately.

Its the next day. I see his wife going to the car. I ask her what happened to the dog and did they fine her. She spoke nice and said the cops gave them the dog and
a 50 dollar fine. She said the dog is allways getting out the door from the husband. She leaves and the husband walks down by my yard. I am sitting with the
chickens. He says why did I call the police on his dog. I told him I did not and said if I had a problem I would have told him the day before. He said yeah me and someone
down the street he knows it is us. This went back and forth but I continued to talk respectfully until I just walked away because he insisted he was right.

Then he tells me wait till I call the police on your chickens, you are not supposed to have them here. Well he is wrong and I checked it with the town before I built
the coop , run and got them.

So here is what I think. I should have just said I don't know who the dog belongs to and his dog would be gone.
And maybe I should have said you better get that dog out of my yard.
I was to polite to him and he disrespected me.
I could have showed him my dug up raised bed with the dog prints all over but did not want to make a big deal out of anything. It was not seeded yet.

I talked to the guy next door who I new was friends with him. I told him what happened. He says he does not go over there anymore.
He was walking with his wife and his dog and that pitbull came after his dog. So he is not friends with him and does not go on that side of the street anymore.

So I am just so angry that I am in my own yard with my animals ,not bothering anyone and I had to put up with someone elses problems and some how
get blamed for his mess.

I think I posted in the right spot here. I just am not sure who is the pest and who is the predator. Him or his dog. LOL.

He is the problem if he could control his dog instead of it running around the police would never have gotten called. if the dog just disappeared he would have blamed you any way. Why because its easier to blame someone else then to take responsibility for his own actions. I would just be ready for the police and animal control to come over I am sorry but he seems the type to mean and spiteful. I think you did the right thing if you have information and don't say anything you could get into with the Police.

You did the right thing, although I would have called the police myself. What if that dog had maimed or killed a child while running loose? You would feel really bad.
I am sorry that he is such a pin head, but really there is nothing you can or could have done to prevent him from saying what he said. As my children would say it "He's a looser".

I agree with everyone above. Some people in life are so unhappy with their own lives they can't stand to see anyone else happy. So they try to make everyone else miserable. Kill him with kindness. You did a great job.

We have a Pittie here, but a roaming dog of ANY breed is liable to get a side/butt full of snakeshot, doesn't run away, it gets a bullet between the eyes here. Cops called on loose Pit, the dog gets a bullet, not a catch stick. Owner is a pest.
