The predators are really my neighbors, but...

wise advice. Wish I could think like this. My mentality doesn't allow this thought process at times, but after reading Malou's post, I am eleventy billion percent behind this approach.

I agree. That is the way to go... the right thing to do. Since I've brought over homemade cookies and veggies from the garden before without a single thank-you (and that was before the problems!) I'm not sure it will have any impact. But I'll do it anyway. Life is short, and whatever her actions, I don't want to stoop to that level. Ever.

My birds aren't laying yet, btw.

They're only 3 months old. Not long now though!

Sorry but if she told me I shouldn't do something in my yard I would tell her If I wanted her opinion I'd beat it out of her. And yes I say this all the time to pushy people.

They take this well?

i think i would start sending her a bill for your babysitting services. it might teach her to give her kid a key to let herself in or find somewhere to hide one on the property. or, better if they have a keyless entry to a garage or a door with one. that way you can't loose the key if you memorize a number.

if a child under the legal age is being left alone with no one given direct charge over them, then that is a problem i would take up with child services. in many states it can be considered neglect even if the child has been healthy and unharmed.

i would be very unhappy with any neighbor telling me to remove something that i can legally have and having to get rid of it because they don't like it. the day they pay my taxes, mortgage, and home owners insurance is the day they can make decisions for me.

we live in a country where those that think there should be a law against something are starting to get their way because too many of us have been backing down to the bullies!

One of a Skunk's favorite meals is the white Grubs. Those tasty little morsels that lie just under the surface of a fine trimmed well fertilized lawn. If there are little dig marks all over their lawn chances are that is what they are after.

Also, the people taking them in are probably getting a big fat government paycheck to be looking after them. My cousin is mentally handicapped. She gets a check for about $800 per month. When she lived in a group home, the group home got the whole check and gave her an allowance of about $40 per month
for clothes, etc.

If they're pushy, who cares? Bullies and users understand little else. I'm with Purr on this one. I pander to the nice people and let the jerks stew over whatever they like. 90% of my neighbors see me as the nice lady with eggs that will care for their animals when they are away. The other 10% think I am the crazy one that they should leave alone.

I think it is a good idea. You don't have to give in, just try to be a good example of how neighbors should treat eachother.
