Chapter 4

I woke up from my nap. I felt sleepy, but I
must explore! I popped my head out of mommy’s
wing and looked around. The world was too big for
a tiny chick to comprehend. I saw other chickens
roaming around looking for food. Finally I asked
“Mommy, how come I can’t be out there with the
other chickens? It looks like so much fun!” Mommy then
looked at me and said “You aren’t old enough to go
around with the bigger animals. They’d eat you right
up!” I was really scared now. I slowly crept back
under mommy. It felt so warm under her. I thought of
taking a nap, but I was board and wanted to chat with
the other chicks. I walked up to one and said. “Hello there!”
“Hi! What’s your name?” The other chick asked. “N-name?
What’s that?” I asked. “You know, it’s something that you go
by!” He peeped. “Well in that case um.. how about Buster!”
“That’s perfect!” He said. “So, what’s your name?” I asked.
“My name is Red!” He peeped again. “Red? You don’t look
Red!” I said to him. “Well, mommy says I’ll turn red when I grow up!”
Red said. “Oh, neat.” I said sleepily. Both Red and I fell asleep under mommy.

Here's chapter 5! This did happen! Everything it very true!

Chapter 5

I woke up again. “How can growing up be so boring?” I thought to myself. I stretched my little wings, and popped my head out of mommy’s wing and looked outside. “What could be so dangerous about being out there?” I wondered. I looked around the cage. There was a whole! I ran over to it and looked down. The wire matting had ripped away from the cage. I had seen mommy fly before. Why can’t I do it? I took a deep breath and walked to the edge. I leaned forward and was just about to fly, when the thought flashed through my brain. “What if I can’t get back up to this cage? I tried pushing myself back, when I lost my footing. Down I went. I tried to flap my wings, but it was useless. I hit the bottom. I heard chicken voices. “Hey look at that chick! We don’t need another rooster telling us what to do!” I saw chickens stampede towards me! “Help mommy!” I screamed. Mommy was having a fit up in the cage. She was yelling at the other chickens to stop. “Serena, Lulu, Red! Stop what you’re doing! I’ll kill you if you dare peck my chick!” The chickens abruptly stopped. There was silence. Finally Serena called out to mommy saying. “Just what are you going to do to stop us from doing this? You can’t do anything from that cage you’re sitting in!” All of the chickens charged again. I sat frozen on the ground. They looked like they were running in slow motion. They finally reached me. I felt a sharp beak come down on my back. Other’s tried to pull me apart. The pain was horrible! I was sure that I was going to die today. If only I had listened to my mother, this wouldn’t have happened! Things got darker and darker. I looked to my right. I saw one of those humans running fast towards me. I heard her yelling “Stop! Put it down!” All of the chickens ran every direction. I was lying on the ground. Was I dead? No I wasn’t! I got up and started peeping again. The human looked happy to see that I was fine. She picked me up, and put me in the cage.
