It's really dangerous, and not worth the risk. Especially when people do it later when they didn't hatch on day 21. They may miss a tiny external pip and flood the egg.

I definitely WON'T be doing that then.

Hey! Lockdown was two days ago.... today is day #17! I saw some rocking and when I checked an egg, (There was a problem with the side of the bator so I had to open it. Its fixed now.) I could see a shadow moving in the air sack. What does that mean? Is the chick trying to pip? How soon should I expect more?

17-19 days! We are definitely almost to the finish line!! This is my first time but... I think I see an external pip! Its not a hole though.. just looks like they pushed hard and didn't get all the way through...

Unfortunately, due to the fact that I am giving them away/selling them a few weeks after hatching, I do not see the benefit of spending more money on banding.
