My cold body started to float to the surface but the seaweed tangled itself around my body.A spider the colour of the waves, indistinguishable from the water drifts closer to the mad mermaid. She feels a slight pinch, then numbness that spreads throughout her body in less than a second. Her heart stops, her brain ceases all function.
The insane, blood maddened beast is no more.
A faint glow came from all around my body, warming the waters as it brightened. My fingers started to tingle. My eyes opened and I gasped for air. With the little strength I had left I pushed myself up to the surface and crawled ashore.
Was I alive?
I looked at my arm. The spider bite had swelled up.
I sat on the shore and stared at the setting sun.
I finally got up and staggered to the house to find medical supplies.
There was a box of leaves.
I smeared the healing leaves on my arm to stop the swelling and sat on the bed.
