I KNEW somebody was going to bring that up! Yea I totally agree...bad home situations do NOT give a person an excuse to act like that. It may contribute to their behavior, and thus you may understand a little bit more why they act like they do, but even if you are raised like that, YOU YOURSELF can do better. You can overcome. It is extremely hard, but it IS possible. The interesting thing about it though is that I do not think she realized it....that her dad was so controlling and that it rubbed off on her.she was so used to living under his reign. I'm not sure if she even recognizes it now, although hopefully she does. She moved out now...

Yeah exactly!!! Sadly though, most people seem to go either one of two ways... they either copy it and perpetuate the cycle and treat their kids, etc. the same way they were treated OR they realize that that is a horrible way to treat people and want NOTHING to do with it and try to be better, etc. Hopefully most people choose the latter but there’s always a few that don’t.

And then there’s the people like your friend that don’t even realize it yet. Coming from a controlling situation like that is definitely hard! And if she only moved out recently she may not even fully realize it and hopefully once she does and once she heals from it (or if she does), she will come to realize the error of her ways and make amends. One can hope anyway.
