Honestly it would be fine if they ate the tomatoes because my dad doesn’t have self control when it comes to planting them, and I don’t even like tomatoes, but the chickens have to take like a peck out of each one!
I used to free-range my bantams.
Then the fox mom had babies.
Then some of my birds started going missing.
Then MY MOST VALUABLE TREASURED PULLETS went missing in the same couple hours.
Then I locked up all my valuable bantams.
Then I saw the scrawny fox cub go after the larger birds, and ultimately fail.
Now my hunger for revenge will never be satiated until I get his BLOOD!
But even that will never get my pullets back.
Yeah.
I still haven’t got him. But I managed to prevent any further losses.

Yeah we plant a lot of plants usually too LOL but this year most of my starts died and we bought plants we had one cherry tomato plant that produced like crazy and also grew branches like crazy lol it’s so out of control they are a ton of those but we didn’t really care cause we had so many. But we had issues with our bigger tomatoes. We only planted a few plants and they really didn’t produce that well as is let alone when the chickens would peck every single one!! we barely got any lmao we’d see a nice one and then go darn!! They got to it first!! And it just small pecks. They’d take out huge chunks.

I lost 3 of my older girls in one day this spring to I think either a coyote or a fox family. also lost 2 chicks and one quail to predators but they all love free ranging so much I can’t not you know?

Hmm true! I think my mistake was using ones with logos I hadn’t had any caffeine yet.

I’m almost thinking I’ve contracted @sealer39 disease!!!! I got a cut on one finger when I dropped mr muddys pocket knife while changing the shrinkys on the tree stands and then cut my thumb changing the batteries in my microphone and I nearly got a concussion from one of the boards on the winter room that mr muddy didn’t properly secure falling on my head!!!!

I thought it was because you fell out of the tree stand.
