One of mine could use his little hands to undo c-clamps and nuts/bolts. He escaped at the pet store because they didn't close his cage the right way. He chewed into the drywall and lived in the pet store loose for like two weeks before they caught him.

I think they cut into the wall to get him. All of mine got out one time because the roommate wanted to show his bf the new babies. They found the dead space in the cabinets in the kitchen next to the washing machine. It took me ages to lure them all out.

As an adult, I'd still like to own one.

First of all, I never would’ve had pet Mexican rat-squirrels in my home. Second, roommate would have been dealing with it, not me.

I love them! And it gets way too hot in Texas for them to not be indoors. And he helped. If I remember correctly, he stuffed a shoe in the hole once I'd lured them all out with treats.
