I bet they were a bit conflicted though... after all their job was to protect a politician, which is really just a certain type of varmint.

I've just started using the blinking red light device this year. Current flock of 14 @ 16 weeks old have suffered NO PREDATOR issues in a pen that, over the years has been a racoon/possum cafeteria.
My device is a no name, bought on line at auction, SOLAR CHARGED blessing for my barred rocks.

I used those red lights for awhile and they worked great for a couple of weeks until the raccoons got used to them. I lost a few guineas to raccoons while I was out of town even though I had those red lights attached all the way around my run.
The raccoons, fox, and coyote around my place in Iowa got so bold that they would come into my yard in the middle of the day to pick off the free ranging guineas. I even had a raccoon lounging in my shrubs under my house window before dark one day. I think that one may have been rabid, so it “said hello to my little friend”!
