is it ok for my chickens to get all wet and soggy in the rain? its not cold here in northern california just rainy.

My chickens love the rain for a bit then duck for cover, the silkies dont realise they are soaked because of their thick coats. As long as your chickens have a spot to run for cover when theyve had enough it should be ok!!

I pretty much let mine decide. They have free access to the coop (cover) and the outdoors. when it is pouring out, most of them run for cover inside the coop but some (not so smart) stay out in the pouring rain doing thier business!!!
Some just don't seem to care- (kind of like my kids) -LOL
As long as it's not freezing cold and terribly windy (and cold) I let them get wet if they want. (The chickens that is)

thank you. they have plenty of cover I just know they can catch a cold i'm just not sure how I guess the cold and wind.

We used a tarp so that half of our run is covered and protected from the rain/snow.
Works great!
