"Okay" I said and walked off. I looked back and nodded. I walked home as it started storming. People didn't have umbrellas. I asked one walking if it was supposed to rain today. "Uhh...no. Its not raining." He said and pointed up to the sky. When I looked up a rain drop landed right on my contact. "Yeah it-" The man walked off shaking his head. I was soaking wet when I got home. Mom was there fixing dinner. "It is pouring out there!" I said. "What do you mean?" I pointed to my wet clothes and hair. "I don't really know what your pointing to." My mom said. I shook my head and went to my room to change clothes. I looked at my phone still no text from Kat.
 
"C'mon, Maya." Wes said as he started his silver Dodge truck. Maya got into the passenger seat. They buckled up and Wes pulled out of their Grandmother's driveway. "Head still hurt?" Maya kept rubbing her temples but nodded. "Where we goin'?" She asked. "Mall?" Wes suggested. Maya nodded and leaned back against the seat. Her headache was going away so she was feeling a bit better.
 
Kat and Jenna finished browsing the clothing department. Kat, who didn't buy anything, watched as Jenna bought 60 dollars worth of stuff. As they walked, Kat took out her phone, text-walking. 'What did you want to talk to me about?' she typed to Kendall, and hit send. Message Sent, the screen read. Jenna looked curiously over her shoulder. "Are you texting Kendall?"
"No, it's my mom. She's wondering where we are."
"Oh, ok." Jenna replied, satisfied.
 
Kendall was sitting on her bed reading when she heard her phone go **beep beep**. She threw her book across her room and looked at her phone. It was Kat! It read "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"Well you looked really scared in the mall. I was wondering if these weird things have been happening. Like lights going on and off and that horrible storm that no one said actually 'happened'.''
Kendall pressed send and put her phone on her bed. She looked around for her book but couldn't locate it.

Rose pushed a piece of hair behind her ear. She sighed and nodded, but she didn't believe for one second that it was the power grid. "Yeah, I suppose so," she replied. Rose didn't know what else to say.
 
When Kendall's phone beeped again she read the message and replied "It was like ten minutes ago. No one acted like it was happening. I was soaking wet and my mom said I was bone dry. WHAT IS GOING ON?"
