Of course I do. The City is always right." Jaden said, then ventured. "But do you sometimes think that something's going on? Something they're City is not saying?"

Rose hesitated. Finally, she nodded. "Something weird is happening," she murmured. After a moment, Rose shook her head, as if clearing her thoughts. "Hey, do you want to come with me for some pizza?" she asked.

"Uh, sure. One sec." Jaden said. He opened the front door to his house and called otu to his mom. "I'm going out for pizza with a friend!" "Okay, be safe." she replied. He closed the door and went back to Rose. "So what do you think is going on?"

Beatrix glared at her leg, as if intimidating the pain to leave. It didn't. She scowled and looked up at the lights. At least they were on...

Jasper pocketed the slip of paper with the girl's number on it and grabbed his soda. "Nice talking to you," he said. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her blush. He grinned.

Kestrel chewed the end of her pencil. Her cramped handwriting showed three things on her list of weird things that had been happening.
1. Flickering lights
2. Pain
3. Weird images
Her pencil lit on fire. She panicked for a moment, then noticed she was getting weird looks from passers-by.
