Ah. If you used your silver/gold split rooster and a buff Brahma hen, you would get 25% gold males, 25% silver/gold split males, 25% gold females, and 25% silver females. The offspring would probably vary from looking a lot like a buff or light Brahma to having partial or double lacing. You would not get as many mostly black chicks from this cross.

so only the males could potentially have the gold and silver if that happened, and very little of them would be black?

Yes, if you crossed your rooster who doesn’t have much black with a buff Brahma, he won’t produce a lot of black offspring. Hens can’t be silver/gold splits (the gene is sexlinked) so they can only be pure gold or pure silver.
