Eric smiled, stroking Chelly's hair.

Chelly fell asleep in his arms, silent and unmoving, only the slow rise and fall of her chest clarified she was living.

Eric fell asleep as well, still smiling.

Around 9:00 a.m. Chelly awoke. She got up, heading to the kitchen.

Eric was still sleeping, and he began to snore loudly.
