The "refrigerator egg" thread

I forgot to ask. How long were the eggs in the frig at what temp. before you decided to incubate them? Just wonder if any of mine that were in the frig will germinate? THX

While I'm on here it occurred to me to ask people who have lots of diff. kinds of chickens, what kind lays a lavender and/or a pink egg? I've seen baskets of eggs on peoples' profile boxes with eggs that appear lavendar and pink in them. I want every color of egg, of course, who doesn't? : )

The "oldest" one was in there for 16 days. The "youngest" was in there for about 2 days. The fridge is usually kept at about 35 degrees (Farenheit) so just a few degrees above freezing.

I stagger hatch all of the time. I fill up the incubator....
Candle every 10 days, removing any eggs that are not developing, and replace them with fresh eggs.

I do have an incubator that I use as a hatcher. 3 days before hatch date all developing eggs go in for lock down.

The hatcher has a plastic liner to keep the the incubator from being pooped in. I clean it weekly. The other incubators are cleaned monthly.

I have about a 90% hatch rate even after humbly turning them 2 times a day by hand.

I love my babies. :)

THX I feel very optimistic now! I had lowered the frig to about 40 degrees.

both my eggs were not in the fridge long. the dad was a white frizzle/silky/naked neck- the mom was a charcol cochin/silky. the baby hatched this morning, and the other is due tomorrow. the baby is still wettish and is a brown color, feather feet, regular toes, frizzle-y neck, her name is "Lydia" when the other chick hatches she will be named "Stevia"

they will have funny names. the second one has poked a hole below the air cell. it is near a vein but didn't break it. the first one is peeping for the friend to hatch.

Is the second one chirping though? He's okay?

Usually when mine pip through the shell in that area, they die.
