The rehoming a rooster thread

Pics
I let a broody hatch my/her first clutch of chicks. I got the usual split of pullet/ cockerels. I know what I have to do with my boys but there is one that breaks my heart. His name is Angelo because he was supposed to be Angel. His father is a good rooster, not human aggressive, and therefore I believe Angelo should inherit his daddy’s non aggressive genes. He is larger than any of his other hatchmate boys or girls. And he’s already beautiful at 6 weeks old. Mama is believed to be Wynnie my SLW and daddy is Albert my LeghornXRed Sexlink. (Although he looks more like Henry but Henry is a White Frizzle Cochin Bantam X Buff Brahma Bantam. Angelo is definitely not a Banty)
By the way, if Angelo doesn’t crow and by some miracle is a pullet she is no longer available!😝

He is definitely a cockerel. Good luck rehoming him!

Yeah, I know. I’m just not wanting to let go. 🤪 He was the only one from my SLW Mom that made it to hatch. Of all of them that was my number one wished for pullet.
I hoped my leghorn mix was a pullet...he turned out to be a cockerel. Cockerels tend to be friendlier when younger.

I see so many threads about roosters that sadly need to be rehomed that go unanswered and the roosters are likely slaughtered. That's why I decided to make the rooster rehoming thread. On this thread you can post about your rooster that needs to be rehomed and if someone is looking to find a rooster they can post on this thread. Its that simple!

Here's a form I recommend you fill out about your rooster that needs to be rehomed:

Location:
Roosters name:
Breed:
Weight:
Age:
Size:
About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.):
Photos:
Thanks!!!
Columbian Wyandotte Cockerel
Bold but no signs of being mean

Yeah. I’ve had that experience. He’s gone. Now I have 2 roosters that I love to pieces, no aggression. That’s a big reason I allowed chicks. I’d never let the mean one produce progeny.

Location: Nikiski AK
Name: Onion
Age: 7 months
Breed: Swedish Flower mix
Size: Large
Weight: Unknown

About: He’s a sweet boy, he is good with other roosters, and he was hand raised. I would love to keep him but we have too many roosters already. We can pick him up at Nikiski, Kenai, Soldotna, Sterling, or Homer
