The rehoming a rooster thread

About River: As far as I can tell River is just about the perfect Rooster, he just loves his ladies a little too much. Non-aggressive to humans, in fact he’s always been very respectful. He’s quick to alert the girls to potential threats, girls always get the treats first, etc.
I hate to re-home him but he’s just too rough on the girls. Wish he’d had an older rooster to teach him some manners, but these are my first chickens.

Sounds like a good rooster. How many hens? Average recommended is 10 hens to 1 rooster. Maybe he needs a bigger harem to “spread the love around”?

All are very sweet, first and last are crowing.

Used to be nine but now only seven hens, thanks to a scrawny and hungry coyote (in broad daylight!!!) the end of July. Lost two of my favorite EE's. My husband, who is hardcore egalitarian regardless of species, just can't deal with the "pecking order" and is ready to boot the rooster AND my dominant hen. At least the hen provides him breakfast so he's willing to deal with her bullying...to a point.
I do plan to get more chicks in the spring but of course, that still means at least 6 months before he has a bigger harem on which to spread the love.

Size: Gwendal is bigger than Pepper
About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.):
We ended up with 2 roosters who are starting to assert for dominance and I have two young kids that now can’t be around the flock. I would like to see them rehoused instead of ending up someone’s dinner. Pepper is a beautiful rooster. Gwendal is a big beautiful rooster.

Hello, we have two roosters that sadly need to be rehomed. Our family is very attached, but our town will not allow them to stay.

Roosters name: Sassy (will need to change to a more manly name)
Breed: Black Australorp
Weight: not sure, still growing
Age: 12 weeks
Size: large
About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): Sassy is very attentive to anything out of place. He is not extremely docile, a little higher strung than our other roo. He already starting to watch over our girls quite closely and does not miss a beat. All of our chicks have spent a lot of time around people, and will cuddle up on your legs if you sit with a towel over them. He does not like to be held, though. He is starting to get his voice (only around 7 a few times) and our neighbors will be getting upset soon. He will be a great protector of his own flock of hens and we want him to find a wonderful home.

About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): Nutmeg is more laid back than Sassy. He gets along well with the flock and is very sweet and personable. He, like our other chicks, has spent a lot of time around people, and will cuddle up on your legs if you sit with a towel over them. From what I hear, he has not yet started getting his voice but we know we need to find him a new wonderful home.

Have you had any luck rehoming your roosters? I'm in a neighboring town and looking for a place that will rehome our beautiful rooster. Hate to see him go but we're unable to keep him.

Location: Just outside of Atlanta, GA ~ I will drive up to an hour away.
Cockerel's names: Wagashi ,Sudachi, and Mochi
Breeds: Exchequer Serama, Mottled/Silver mille fleur D'Uccle, and Mille fleur/Silver miller fleur D'Uccle
Age: 9 weeks old
Size: Bantam, one is a Serama. They are the smallest breed of chicken in the world!
About cockerels: 9 weeks old. Brothers. Very healthy and sweet. Hand-raised and they follow and let you hold them.
I have pics of their parents and grandparents if you want pics PM me. Also if you have questions PM me. I have too many roos and can not keep them but I wish I could! The D'Uccles are 5$ each and the Serama is 25$. NOT For consumption.

Size: he’s going to be a good sized bird
About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): I keep hens. Generally we can have roosters but I really like my neighbors. Rooster was raised by a broody, approaches for treats but is cautious.
