I love the look of red barring. I saw the chart to make auto sexing breeds. I have cream legbar and heritage RIR. I'm not sure where I'd be starting on the chart. Do I use a RIR roo over CL hen or vice versa?

If you're after an autosexing type, the legbar is barred so is basically like the barred rock on the chart. Keep a son from that mating (will be sexlinked so one with a spot) then mate him back to RIR hens. Keep the barred chicks from that and mate them together. From that mating, keep the best barred red cockerels and pullets and mate them together which should throw autosexing birds. My second generation will be hatching this fall when the pullets start laying. I am on my first generation which is the sexlink cockerel. Come fall he will be mated to the red hensI love the look of red barring. I saw the chart to make auto sexing breeds. I have cream legbar and heritage RIR. Are you talking about a barred rock rooster over RIR females? Most of those should be black barred with some red leaking through. All should be barred at hatching if the male is pure for barring. The chicks should all have a yellow spot on the head if they are going to be barredJust wondering if anyone has any tips for Barred Male to RIR pullet offspring as chicks. We have started hatching out several eggs with first clutch almost finished. Are there are there any tips to telling if they will be barred at hatch. Obviously the black ones are not keepers, but are there any distinguishing marks on the browns to tell if they are barred at day old? Thanks
