The Rhodebar thread!

Center, far back, you will see a VERY dark striped female (directly behind gray colored BPR), to this day she looks VERY different from the others, again leading me to believe I have cleanup work to do with the breed.

There have been many "yellow" chicks hatched out from the GFF foundation stock. I am looking at it as "it is what it is and we have to work with what we have" so I am just going to cull any that I get that are like that and make sure they are not bred. Culling hard and only breeding the best of the best that we get is the only way we are going to really improve the Rhodebar.

Hi.. Any Rhodebar breeders seen any chicks with an eye line... ?

OK... analyzing the 8 F1s who do not have dark chipmunk stripes...
Two are lighter with even slightly lighter heads... the other 6 are darker but I divided them into two groups of 3 called medium and dark.
In these photos they actually all appear slightly lighter than they really are due to the flash, but relative to each other they are accurate. The darkest three are actually quite chocolate colored.

Lightest two...

Medium 3 and dark 3

Medium 3

Darkest 3

All the remaining chicks have very dark, obvious chipmunk striping... I will look at them closer tomorrow and divide into subgroups if necessary... I believe there are 9 of them.

Sheri that top one with that light head could be male. It will be interesting to see if that is the case or not.

I have 6 hatched so far, no clue where I am going to put them. I was getting another heat plate but turns out they are back ordered until next month.

here are some of our recently hatched rhodebar chicks. all the pullets have eyeliner. even some cockerls show a little. the chick on the left in bottom 2 photos is a cockerl.

Now to me those look really nice. Even the male has very distinctive chipmunk stripes although not as dark as the female. That is what I am looking for in my F1's, hopefully that is what I should be looking for.

Do you have pics of the parent stock?
