The Rhodebar thread!

@cynthia12 Are you thinking about choosing one of your pullets to cross with your HRIR cock? It would be great to post pics of all three about once a month till they get to pol just to see how they evolve.

Opinion wanted... I was originally considering culling all my F1 males but am now considering keeping one to breed back to a RB female who I'm liking more and more all the time. Well... I am going to grow them all out, unless I get a stinker like Penny (how's he doing btw?)
My question is... is it the darker down males I should be choosing from? They are all hetero e+, but I can see pros and cons to both options - choosing light down and choosing dark down. Opinions?

I tried putting him back with the rest and total meanness within minutes so back in a separate cage he went. I should have the outside brooder finished in a few days, if the rain stops, and will try them all together in a new space and see how that works out. Oh and just so you know, this bossy one is more of the orange color then the others.

I would be picking the one that has the closest red coloring to your Reds, not one of those orangey colored ones, lol.

Love that little chick your Red hatched out, btw. I was in St Augustine for a going away dinner for my son and my dang email would not work.

That nicer RB hen I have with the good color named Hope is his mom... and his dad is the roo I didn't put over the HRIR. So... if he grows out well he may be the fella I use for my BC1.
He is very calm and friendly. I can walk right up to him and pick him up. He follows his mom around very well and she's cautious but not overly protective... a good momma.

I am confused on this also...if the double barred males are lighter, why would we not keep the lighter males as the CCL people do (from RB, not F1 is my question)?
