They look great!!!! So filled out and smooth....won't be long until the eggs come and you will be jumping to the moon when you eat the first eggs.

I simply LOVE it that you took the info you got on the OT thread and applied it to your birds and their environment. I don't think you will ever regret that. Healthy chickens are so much more enjoyment than sick ones...any ol' day!
I know I wont regret it. It's simple, wholesome & easy!!! Plus I love to repurpose stuff. And so much cheaper & less work. Honestly I only fluff the bedding probably twice a month & add to it once a month. So other than giving them FF every day and checking the water there isnt much for me to do but enjoy chicken tv.......nothing better than throwing in a handful of cherry tomatoes or grapes and watching them chase each other around to grab their favorite treat from one another. Its like a combination of chicken tag/hot potato

As someone with a delicate nose, I'm loving the lack of smell in my coop...it has absolutely no smell whatsoever...doesn't even smell like chickens, let alone their poop. I'm loving that side effect of the FF.

One thing I do regret...my dog is no longer interested in keeping the chicken poop cleaned up now that their feed is more utilized. He has no interest in it whatsoever now. That was how I recycled the nutrients before...gave the dog extra protein, but no more.

Hahaha well my 2 will still clean up chicken poo when they can. And they also do a great job of licking clean the crumbs left in the FF bowl lol And thats with the garlic & pepper flakes I have added to the mix

I never even noticed this, but you're right! My dogs are not scrounging around for those beloved morning snacks. My corgi still loves to dust bathe in their coop though :gig - I'm not kidding. Full on dust bath going on!

I just gave some 6 week old chicks a dirt bath bin filled with wood ash :D

I'm having a hard time integrating 4 chicks to the teenage flock. They don't want to be integrated, and keep breaking in to the feed/wood storage part of the barn to hide from evil teenaged chickens.

The six week olds are much more interested in integrating. Baby steps. It's SO cold out right now. Why did I decide to hatch this time of year?

Tomorrow it is going to be 65 tomorrow. Out they go :D It's been in the 30s - mid 40s for a week or two. I miss the sunshine...

We do! You will find out what the currency is when they are grown and gone. Nothing left to laugh about, nobody left to laugh with, nobody to make messes or noise(you'll miss it, believe me), nobody to think that you hung the moon, sun and stars, nobody to hug you as only a kid can hug.....that's worth more than anything money can buy and it will be gone. Then you will wish you could get that level of pay again.

I have not read this for a while and was catching up seen this and tears came to my eyes. My 2 one boy and one girl will be leaving within 1 year. The boy within 1 month. The girl is married but her husband is going to Afghanistan in January. She will be gone when he returns. OH my goodness how I wish they were 5 again.

I know exactly what you are saying! Remember when their feet were small and their arms slipped easily around your neck? Love comes so easily and is expressed so simply and pure when kids are little. They have simple wants and needs and it's easy to make them happy. When they were little I was the sun, moon and stars.

When they left home they thought I didn't know anything and had never been their age or encountered the things they were running into in the world. Now? They are finding out that Mom isn't so stupid after all...but I still wish those little faces with that baby skin was within easy reach. I wish I had soaked it up more completely so that I could still feel that skin under my fingertips and hear that child laughter ringing through the house.

Now, you will have grandchildren to look forward to, and you will experience all that love all over again :)

We can only hope...I'd be some kind of grandma, I'm thinking!

I know my mother is so in love with her first grandson. He thinks she is the best thing next to chocolate chip cookies. You will get that one day. With 3 boys.. They are bound to give you a couple grandkids ;)

My brother was 16 when my nephew came along. :D My nephew was out with me on Friday, stirring up the deep litter, and talking away to the chickens. My mom says he is much more like me than his own father. Was I really that bossy?
