After enrolling in the School of Bee, and learning about FF, I started to research fermented foods for my family. I figured that if I can take the time to set up a bucket for the hens, I can set up a mason jar for my family. It's been a fun experiment. It helps that my DH and children eat anything and everything that I throw their way. They are very supportive of this crazy lady's efforts!

lol. You must be a good cook. I thought my kids would eat anything too, until tonight. We had chicken with sesame seed crust (chicken is rare at our house) Okra and home canned cabbage. Oh and fries bcause DH has to have a starch. So my kids mixed up a pile of ketsup and mayo and ate a shovel load of fries and both turned up their noses to the rest! I had to wheel and deal to watch them pull slime from the okra as long apart as they could (yes, it became a contest) and try to slide it under the table to Willaughby when I was not looking. I actually had to use guilt because, after all, I made the cabbage just for Nina and that got me three bites...original deal was two but I didnt see one of them go in so she had a doover. Nina was all "I feel full, pause, can I have the rest of the fries?" Henry said "is this one of my chickens?" No, it was from the store. "Well I dont want any chicken on my plate." "okay, so more okra then? "what is that?" Its like a bean. These are kids that drink ACV straight and eat bell peppers like apples.
So anyway, I hope there is not some weird trend happening here. What about the dogs? Can I ferment dog food and maybe have less to clean up in the yard?

Others are doing it and reporting some really good health results on their dogs. I'm not sure about the amount or smell. Hey, someone even accidentally fermented a mouse and their cat ate it...and it doesn't normally eat the mice. I found that remarkable because I've never known a cat to eat a mouse that they found dead but was not one of their kills.

So funny....I've heard a lot of folks that think that Walmart is evil and I guess I just don't get that.  Not that I want to open up an political or socio-economical discussion here but the word "evil" has truly lost its meaning if a building filled with material goods is evil. 

Even the corporation....I can give you a full blown list of the corporations in this world that are what I consider "evil" and many of you would be surprised that you use their products nearly every day or frequent their stores quite regularly. 

Walmart is just a store.  Nothing more and nothing less.  For many people who live in rural areas, it is the only store with anything in it for 50 mi. or more.  You folks who live in urban areas can call it evil all you wish because you have many choices in life but some do not have so many. 

On another forum I belonged to some lady was sneering at dollar stores, Good Will and Salvation Army stores.  I guess there are many out there who have an idea on what they think is evil or bad. 

I shop at Walmart a lot...I don't sense a bit of evil lurking when I purchase foods or goods at prices I can afford.  Can't afford to frequent the places that cost more just so that folks can feel like I'm not contributing to the monster that is Wally World.

There is evidence that Walt Disney was a pedophile.....want to talk about evil, we can go there.   

 

There are plenty of evil companies ..... You'll get no argument from me on that .

One thing that Walmart does and has done is move into a small town. Everyone is so excited for cheap goods (an entirely different subject) and they do a bang up business. The mom & pop stores can not compete and go out of business one by one. Guess what happens then?? Walmart closes the store and now with no local stores all the town people are forced to drive 50 miles for these cheap goods instead of 5. The thing that gets me is they never intended to stay in that town.... They just wanted to run the other folks out of business, forcing those town people to frequent the far away store that was previously ignored. I'm all for fair competition but this doesn't sit well with me.

I live in a city and well they don't allow Walmart here... so yeah it's funny I find them evil as I can't even shop at one....

you are right. I read that too, I just thought it was an anomally. Well. I think I'm gonna try it. I usually give all my pups a cup of yogurt every day while they are growing but Emma stopped eating it after the first week. She refuses it. She eats scrambled eggs like a fiend though. lol.
