In my younger days that is exactly how wew did it...could weather just about anything and enjoy it actually. Now that I am pushing mid 60's, the spirit is willing but the flesh ain't what it used to be...like to take that into consideration now

while only 45 now, life is what it is daily. I'm one of those people who lives simple and while planning for things such as winter, I worry about today. Not tomorrow, I'll worry about tomorrow when it is today

Same here...but most of these folks don't live in the country country. A good many live on city water, no wood heat, etc.

The reason I asked about preparations is because that seems to be the buzz word nowadays...everyone getting real nervous about the world, the environmental changes, the economy, etc. Many ask joking questions about the aforementioned apocalyptic type events and have games around it all.

But, underlying all this joking about the world ending and such, I sense a real fear of a bad moon arisin'....not just on this thread, I mean I'm getting these vibes from all the forums of all kinds, Facebook, the media, etc. Some people joke about it but still talk about it...sort of like kids whistling in the dark. I'm not poking light at this...I know something is coming also, so I feel the fears are valid.

I just wanted to get a feel for how everyone is thinking. Many have stated they got chickens so they can produce their own foods and such, so I'm thinking the uncertainty of the times is playing into that.

If each of you were going to be honest with yourself and could answer in one word, yes or no, what would you answer if I asked~do you have fears for you or your family about the future? No need to explain the answer, just give your gut reaction answer of "yes" or "no". Let's do a little experiment....

can't answer that that simply. While not "preppers" my wife and I know the world as we know it is changing. Some of it is as simple as my thoughts that as a country we are going to be back to many local small farms. Working on that ourselves. Are we concerned about something? ( I won't say what I think is going to happen....ohh I will....total economic collapse) Absolutely concerned. We ourselves will do ok. Many neighbors , country neighbors, walking distance, 1 or 2 miles away, have livestock etc to barter. I hunt and track well. We have a stream on our land.

Yes...I AM afraid of the IGNORANT (interpreted: uneducated) people and how it will effect everyone else. Whoever has control of the food supply has control of the people. Just look at the violence in storm areas when all people have is the store...
