I expected to hear a lot of comments on just how horrible and gross looking those vent pics were...

Forgot to add another thing we did tonight...the black star hen is no more. I won't go into details here but during the cull, several things were noted that only reinforced the choice to eliminate this bird. Good cull.

Subscribing to this beautiful story...not beautiful because of the beginning, but because of the healthy positive future it promises. Keep up the great work!

Ok we are underway for fermented feed here.. We only have two hens and one rooster so I have started small. Mixed layer pellets and whole grain scratch mix with some left over rabbit pellets ( sadly our beloved midnight passed away a few weeks ago) in water and added my unfiltered ACV. Note got it from our local health food shop. It's Bragg brand. You should have seen the look I got in the snotty health food shop when I said it was for my chickens.. Priceless....

I had zip idea on how much AVC to add. A few gluggs was all I could find in the FF thread. So I put in about 100 Mls into about 8 liters of water ? Is that too much ???? I live in dawin Australia and its the Build Up Season so it's about 33 degrees Celsius in the day and about 23 c at night so I don't think fermenting will take long.

Ok my questions are.

Did I use to much AVC
I had to add more and mare water as the mixture absorbed a lot. is that right? as in keep it fully emerged in water.

So excited, the chicken queen ( number two daughter ) is worried I am going to poison her babies..
