so i got a pair of bantam brown leghorns about 8 days ago and they are great. they are a cute little couple and i am enoying their addition to my flock. what i am wondering is that the little roo "buck owens" has taken to following me around with the dogs everywhere i go he would come right upstairs into my loft if i didnt close the shop door. i have not given him an extraordinary amount of treats at all but he has figured out that they come from me. he is very friendly i just worry that i am encouraging bad behavior by letting him continue. i have stoppe giving him any treats whatsoever except when i give something special to the whole flock like water melon or the mornings scratch. would love to hear what yall i think i should do? i will add that he is a full time free ranger except when in the coop at night of course. i guess ihave another question too. what is the the theory behind keeping the roo in it own house? is it just for breeding purposes?
thanks for your time
ciao

Sounds like he is pretty devoted already. My Light Brahma roo follows me around pretty much the whole time I am outside. The first time the big guy ( and I mean BIG ) came rushing towards me as I opened the door to step outside I have to admit it was a little intimidating. But, he was just looking for a handout! I got used to it and now I really enjoy him hanging around - he's my favorite of my whole flock, and everyone else's too. He's never shown an aggressive tendancy towards people or kids, but he is very friendly once he "knows" you - this includes any house guests that may take an inclination to feeding him, lol. Some guys are just more easy going and friendly than others - I don't think it will do any harm. Best Wishes!

He is great looking. I don't think it would cause any harm in giving him his trats again. He just loves being around you even if it is just for the handouts lol. I love when my he follows me all over the yard. She is even teaching the other ones to do it now.
