Here are a few "serpent" photos of the pesky chicken snakes (rat snakes) we have killed in and around our hen house this spring. Take a look and then send out some of yours!!!
1. THE GRAND-PAPPY OF 'EM ALL !

(this guy was 7 ft)

2- RAKE 'N A SNAKE

3- SNAKES IN MAY (LAST NIGHT!)

We have been clearing brush around the hen yard over the past weeks, so I am sure that has
disturbed these guys tremendously. I was periodically finding ceramic eggs on the ground in the hen house, assuming the hens were rooting them out. Very suspicious! I pick up eggs 2-3 times a day. BUT this smaller chicken snake had a ceramic one in its throat last night, so now I am thinking they have been coming through the 2" x 4" panels and trying to eat my fake eggs and then discarding them. Who knows, but there was another ceramic egg on the floor early this morning when I went to turn out the girls...
THANK GOD FOR THE MAN WHO INVENTED LONG-HANDLED SHOVELS!!!

i gave a 6ft black snake a ride to the country this morning i just couldnt kill him he he was sunning on the fence by the coop they get one chance then well you know lol

Can't compete with those big uns but this 5 ft chicken snake was dealt with last week- .357 w/ rat shot. Haven't got one as big as the 7 footer listed earlier, about 6 is biggest I've gotten.

Wow that's impressive... We don't have snakes here in nz, luckily but we would most likely shoot the buggers... Haha the ceramic eggs win again, at least they are going for the eggs not the hens ( yet, not while they have eggs..)

I'd sooner see the chicken snakes than water mocassins or copperheads I suppose. No snakes? Hard to imagine. My wife and I went on our honeymoon to Kauai (more your neck of the woods) and they're overrun with wild chickens. They said there are no natural predators there, including snakes. When I first saw some in the distance I thought 'wow what kind of exotic birds are those?' Just a couple jungle roosters. haha

Haha well we do have predators but it's great with the lack of snakes. I have no idea where that is.... but good luck with getting those snakes !

hmm, yes I spose it would be about halfway then. oh the joys of everything anti chicken ( well living and not meals anyways)
