~*~The Shifting War - RP (Role Play)~*~

Ari flicked her ears then sat down at a whistle. For now she would hold the cover

"Ryan. Are you Pure or Feral?" Mark asked after the short whistle

"...Wh-what?!" Ryan asked in a flat tone after a long pause, then met the wolf's eyes, and quickly looked at the ground, there was something that felt... Familiar, about it... "I'm sorry, but, I-I don't know what, 'Pure' and 'Feral' means." He was completely at a loss, and even though the wolf was sitting, he was still on edge.

Ari looked to Mark and gave a quick yip then stood and went to disappear into the woods so she could shift back out of sight

Mark came out and walked over to Ryan "Truly?" He asked then knelt in front of him "Are you a Hunter then?" He asked as Ari came out in her human form to stand behind Mark "Why are you out here in the woods alone?"

"I'm going to eat Granny!!!" Jayden yelled from the kitchen, knowing the old woman would not catch the grammatical error that made it sound like he was going to eat her. He wore a black pullover hoody, and faded blue jeans. He sniggered under his breath as she entered the room, clothed in a fluffy bath robe, her long gray hair in a braid down her back.

"Boy, if you say you're going to eat me one more time..."

Jay abruptly stopped sniggering, "You got that?!"

She sat at the table and raised one eyebrow, "Yes, every time."

"Well, you may be old, but you still have your wits about you, that's for sure!" Jayden retorted teasingly.

"That's right, you should keep that in mind next time you try to fool with your old Granny." She teased back with a smile, unfazed by him calling her old, she had accepted that fact long ago.

He put a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and homemade pancakes down in front of her, then a glass of apple juice. The eggs were from their own free-rage chickens, the bacon was from a pig they had raised the year before, the milk in the pancakes was from Granny's dairy cow, Nancy, and the juice was pressed from the apples in their orchard.

Overall, they were pretty well self-sufficient, though they didn't grow their own grains, but really, if they had to go without grain, they'd survive just fine.

"You trying to fatten me up, I see..." Granny said as she surveyed the mountain of food.

"Yep! If I'm going to be eating you, I don't want stringy Granny." Jayden let out a laugh, "I gotta get goin', love you." He gave her a kiss on the forehead, then grabbed his backpack, tossing it easily onto one shoulder.

"I love you, too." She said lovingly, "See you later, Alligator."

"After a while, Crocodile!" He grinned widely, then skipped out the door. He went around to the side of the old farm house, and grabbed his mountain bike from the shed, jumping on it and taking off down the winding dirt road that steadily lead downhill. He eventually reached the main road, and turned left, heading towards the school in town.

"A hunter? No, I don't hunt," Ryan's voice was much calmer then before, and was almost back to its usual calm, smoothing tone. He glanced up, surprised as a pretty girl with black hair like the males, came from the direction that the wolf had went, "I come up here often, this is my spot, to stargaze, I mean," He swallowed hard over the lump in his throat, and forced himself to ask, "What do you want from me? Can you, please, tell me, I have money, you can have it."

He reached his right hand towards the back pocket of his dark jeans to retrieve his wallet, even though there wasn't much in the way of cash in there, only thirty-seven dollars, being that he worked online, blogging, writing essays, and doing web design.

Mark shook his head "We don't want to steal from you." He said then stood up and looked to Ari then back to Ryan "What is the nearest town?" He asked then frowned at Ari when she moved around him to hold out a hand to help Ryan stand

"We are travelling. My brother wants to stop and get a job so we can make some money before we move on." Ari said and smiled at Ryan "He's very protective" She added in a stage whisper then went back to her regular voice "I am Ari, he's Mark. Sorry for my wolf scaring you, she'll stay out of sight for a while." They had learned to speak of the wolf as if it was a separate thing when speaking to humans, a way to explain any sightings without revealing what they were.
