Yes, but in that case you have a hen to keep them warm and protect them. Didn't you say you purchased these chicks?

You must use a brooder if you don’t have a mama. They need heat and protection at this age.I always us a hen to hatch and I never remove them from the group. I try to keep everything completely natural. I have never lost a chick because of one of my birds. Can it happen sure but my birds are acclimated to new faces. Some pecking but not much but my chicks stay with everyone from day one
No I let a broody hatch them. If you buy chicks wait till you get a broody and sneak the chicks under her when it's time. I have only purchased chicks once the very first timeYes, but in that case you have a hen to keep them warm and protect them. Didn't you say you purchased these chicks?

The op stated they were bought chicks. No hen to raise them. That’s why they are using a brooder. They do have a mama
Wasn't trying to argue I intended it to be inquisitive sorry for the confusionMy comment was to the OP. Not sure why the second party jumped in to argue with me about it.
After reading the comments all I can say is both you and the original poster live in TX. I'm sure the chicks are A OK with out a heat lamp in the deep Deep South. Sunshine is the same as a heat lamp.Wasn't trying to argue I intended it to be inquisitive sorry for the confusion
The chicks have been in a brooder under a heat lamp since we picked them up over a week ago. We brought them out for 5 minutes yesterday into the small coop - as seen in the picture. My comment was to the OP. Not sure why the second party jumped in to argue with me about it.
