Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. I am dealing with this ok so far, but I miss her very much. She used to run up to me on the mornings and loved her scratch on the evenings. I appreciate you all.

Silver laced whyandotte cockerel at 7 weeks old.

With the mixed emotions of sadness and relief I gave up my 2 cockerels. The farmer kept his word and even took them one week ahead of schedule but it was harder than I thought it would be. I think the bond that formed with all the TLC given is quite powerful.

Three times we've had to rehome boys. Two of them were hatched in our house & hand fed until they were full sized roosters. The third was a cockerel that we'd picked up at 2 days old & raised till he was about 8wks. We spent a lot of time making sure they went to good homes, but all three have been a heart wrenching experience for us. My heat goes out to you & your family.
