“Yeah I didn’t want to, I was going to crash at HQ but he persuaded me. Yeah, do you think I should go talk to Calder?” She asked looking back up the stairs to see if he was there
Alina shook her head, "He tends to prefer to work things through on his own. Once he starts teasing you again, you know you're forgiven."

(You should sleep if you need to. I don't want to hold you up.)

“Are you sure? Maybe if I just went and told him I wasn’t trying to replace your sister..” she said
(Nah it’s all good another 8 minutes should be okay)

"I feel like that would bring things up to the surface. I don't think he wants to be reminded that Michaela is—well—gone." Alina revealed. "He took it pretty hard."

She glanced over her shoulder to look for Calder, she honestly felt sorry for the poor guy. He thought he would be part of this family but before he could be an official member his fiancée was killed. She bit her lip, she knew she probably was the last person he would want to see right now so she avoided going and talking to him.

“Yes your probably right, should we go check on dinner?” She suggested

"We most certainly should," Alina agreed, with a smile. She turned quickly to her father, and said quietly so only he could hear:
"I was a little harsh on Calder a moment ago. Would you speak to him for me?"
Chris nodded and hurried up the stairs.

Tara went down the stairs and into the kitchen to check on the food, “it smells wonderful” she said.
(I gtg goodnight 🙂)

Alina followed at a slower pace, her thoughts in the upstairs bedroom where her father had disappeared into.

Chris, meanwhile, was knocking on Alina's bedroom door. Calder opened it. "I'm sorry," he muttered, "I shouldn't even be in here."
"Oh, Alina won't mind," Chris said, willfully misunderstanding so that Calder would tell him what he was thinking.
"That's—not what I meant." Calder said, turning away and heading over to the window
"Anyhow," Chris continued, breezily, "Alina asked me to give you her apologies. She's concerned about Tara and—well, couldn't come up herself."
"Couldn't?" Calder raised an eyebrow and looked over his shoulder at Chris. "Or wouldn't?"

Chris sighed. "She couldn't." he reiterated, and then walked up to Calder and put an arm around him. "I get how you're feeling, son. Alina is concerned that you're thinking Tara's taking Michaela's place. That's not right at all."
"Oh? In her room—staying here—you treating her like another daughter?" Calder snapped. Chris's arm tightened around him.
"Please don't feel this way," he said, "I welcome Tara, because Alina's right. This place had been too quiet. And she's had heartache too. It's not wrong to help her, and of course she'll never take Michaela's place. You miss her. We all do. And you're one of us,"

He turned and left Calder to his own thoughts, alone in Alina's room.

"What is it Millie?" Mark asked, still thinking about how Elsie had criticized him.

"Yes. Next hiding place," Mark told her, intentionally irritating her when he didn't elaborate.
(Hm.. something is telling me Elsie better climb down a peg or two or she'll be taken down... this makes 3 characters she's annoyed!)
