(I know. It's a really tough call... but I feel like this is the fairest way. I've been feeding it, making it drink, etc and we really bonded. But it couldn't even feed itself. It couldn't get around on its own or anything. I just feel like... this is the fairest way.)

Alina closed her bedroom door as they reached it, and flopped down on the bed. "I don't know," she admitted, "All sisters bicker, I think. Michaela and I certainly did. But we ended up really close by the time I turned twelve. And—I think Liana is a beautiful name."

(Hey I just realised... she only knows Alina has a sister who died, nothing else... this could be interesting...)
(True. This could be very interesting, she has no idea about Calder or anything)
“Yeah Liana is a beautiful name, she got the pretty name I got the boring name. Your lucky you and your sister were close, mine had to move to another state and that still isn’t far enough” she joked.
(Aww I’m so sorry that it had to be this way but your doing the right thing.)

"I like Tara, too," Alina objected. "And—well—why don't you try again someday? Because... I mean... it doesn't seem right to give up on so much. It's tough and maybe you can share that. Maybe she feels like—kind of like Calder. Maybe she feels like she can't show it hurts."

“Calder? What does Calder have to do with your sister?” She frowned picking up the name Calder from the sentences

“Really?” She stared at her “whoa. That’s so sad, poor Calder. I never met your sister but I’m assuming the room I'm in was hers? I kinda saw her name scratched into the windowsill”
"Yeah, it's not exactly the way we wanted things to be," Alina sighed, "In fact, far from it. And yeah, that's her room. I'm not surprised you saw her name there. I don't know why she did it, but she did. It used to be hidden by all her plants. I'd forgotten all about it."

She saw Calder and glanced at him. Poor guy, “yeah. Don’t worry I won’t scratch my name in” she joked again

Calder, standing in the doorway, almost retorted, I should jolly well hope not! And is this really time for joking?

Alina was more tolerant. "That's okay. I'm sorry it's so bare in there now."

(I'll be gone for about 20 minutes, then back for maybe five, then gone again... it's a little hectic around here... my younger siblings having trouble understanding why... you know)

“Sorry Calder” she said looking at him “um but this was kinda a bit private or at least my side is” she felt uncomfortable. She stood “actually it’s um okay you guys can talk and I will go” she walked out the door leaving them in the room. She pulled her hoodie over her head and walked down the stairs.

"Tara!" Alina called, but too late. She turned to Calder, anger in her vivid blue eyes. "Did you have to?" she snapped.
Calder was taken aback. He had never seen Alina angry before, and he'd known her for twelve of her sixteen years. He came further into the room, hurt by her glare.
"I'm sorry!" he said.
"That's not enough!" Alina said, frustratedly, "Can't you get this? Tara doesn't have a place—doesn't have anyone—how can you drive her out?"
"She's not the only one who doesn't have anyone," Calder replied, almost inaudibly. He turned away. Alina jumped up off the bed.
"I'm sorry—Calder, that was inconsiderate of me." she said, "I can guess how you must feel, but can't you please deal with it in some other way than being—being obnoxious?"

Calder's eyes darkened. "That's what you think of me?"
"No!" Alina denied, "Of course not. You were going to be my big brother, remember?" she pointed out, slipping a slim arm through his. "It's just... Tara's going through the same. And I can't help you. You haven't even let me try. But Tara might. So I ought to."

She pulled away from him and ran out of the room. "Tara?"
