“Oh” she relaxed again “thank goodness. There are some...private things...in there that aren’t really for anyone else to see”. To a degree she could tell he must have seen something, based on the way he wouldn’t meet her eyes. She bit her lip her stomach doing backflips, “and can someone tell me why my hair has blood in it?” She asked playing with a sticky strand of Hair(Help.)
Calder did not reply. He didn't even meet her eyes. When he apologised, it would be to her only. It wouldn't be fair to bring Alina into it.
Alina's thoughts were on a very different track. "No. You remember the chip I gave you?" she tapped the screen on her wrist. "I could see your location."
Alina sighed. "We were hoping you could tell us. I don't know what happened."“Oh” she relaxed again “thank goodness. “Well I don’t know, I remember they filled the room with boiling water up to my knees. Then when that drained they brought in..” she shuddered “a bird. After that they used a taser on me. Then they set my chair on fire and doused me in icy water. Then I think they hit me with a baseball bat” she explainedAlina sighed. "We were hoping you could tell us. I don't know what happened."
Calder gritted his teeth. It was everything he could do not to just explode at that point. Alina's face reflected her horror. "I'm glad you can remember, at least," she pointed out, "You could have had amnesia."“Well I don’t know, I remember they filled the room with boiling water up to my knees. “Well I’m not glad I can remember that” she said “I think I’m going to need a half a dozen sleeping pills just to get some sleep tonight.” She shook her head “and that is the last time I get in a cab alone again” she couldn’t help but laugh in spite of the grim things she had just been talking aboutCalder gritted his teeth. "My bad," Calder admitted, "I was the one who told you to."“Well I’m not glad I can remember that” she said “I think I’m going to need a half a dozen sleeping pills just to get some sleep tonight.” She shook her head “and that is the last time I get in a cab alone again” she couldn’t help but laugh in spite of the grim things she had just been talking about
“Your bad?” She let out a scoff “please, I shouldn’t have trusted that cab driver for a second. The way he kept looking at me in his rear view mirror” she shuddered “gives me chills. Never. Getting. In. A. Cab. Again.”"My bad," Calder admitted, "I was the one who told you to."
He didn't add anything else, but inside he felt terrible. He had messed up so bad.
Calder choked. Alina chose not to notice, and laid a warm hand on Tara's arm. "I'm going to go and get you some herbal tea. It's Michaela's recipe," she added more quietly. To herself, she admitted that it felt nice to celebrate Michaela, and to share her with others.“Your bad?” She let out a scoff “please, I shouldn’t have trusted that cab driver for a second.
