I have a female Cayuga duck that is about 8 weeks. All the other ducklings from her clutch were fine, but suddenly she started limping, holding her beck funny, and her wing was sticking out. My husband said he wanted to put her down, but I am a bleeding heart so I told him to let me see what I could do. I read up on her symptoms and it appeared she must have not been getting enough vitamins. I made her a "duck room" in large Rubbermaid box, and brought her into the house. I kept her on the vitamins for about a week it was a large dose. She started to come around. Her wing got better, but she will still hold her beck funny and she has trouble with her left leg. It is as if it is shorter. Everyday I put her in the tub and she will swim until she is tired. Then I will pull the plug and let her dry off. She sleeps in my room in her duck room. After her bath time, I will wrap her in towels, then sit her on towels on the bed in my lap and we watch tv. She loves to snuggle. It is far from what I expected to happen but I have to admit, I do enjoy our snuggle time. She isn't strong enough to go in the duck/chicken enclosed yet, although we have it a try today for a short bit. We will see how it goes, but for now she is more of a pet and gets along fine with my cats and dogs.
