No these turkeys are Bourbon Reds. They are a heritage breed. They are 11 weeks old now and they are getting big. I have 3 boys 2 girls (not a good ratio so Im tryin gto decide what to do, lose a boy or get 2 more girls). How old is your BBW? My 2 are almost 19week old(its time to process them) And they are getting really big heres a pic from about a week ago.

I thought I would do another update. A few weeks ago we finished the top of the run so they are now safe and secure. The PVC is a little crooked lol. And there is aviary netting over the whole top you cant see it though.



Once I get to adding nest boxes I will updat pics again. I am going to put one in the coop and one in the run. I also need to raise up the roost.I think Im going to paint it this week also. I have an exterior solid stain called redwood. I may try that.

So I decided what better day than today to paint. This is what me and my 5yr old DD did today









Some of my family doesnt like the painted box grid on the side of the coop( I like it hence the reason I did it lol) What do you all think? My dad says to paint the whole side. I was thinking of taking off the 2 unpainted boards( they were originally holding the pallets together. But im sure all the other boards and plywood are securing them now. Any suggestions on how to improve it?

Do you guys have hawk problems?

I like the grid paint scheme. It would just look waaayyyy better if the inside of it could be painted too. Maybe white!
But it does look good tho. Honestly.

What color did you have in mind for the roof trim?

Yes we have hawks. They used to live on my property a mom and a baby until I started clearing trees(not their tree) They stayed trhough the spring and summer to raise the baby and when she was big enough they moved on. And we do still have some stalkers that fly by. Im glad you like the paint. And painting the inside white is a good idea because I am gng to repaint the window white and also do the roof trim in white so that may all tie in. I was also thinking of adding strapping around the door and painting the trim of it in white so it looks like a barn door. My Mara I just got last week they are almost 2 weeks old now. They 2 are FBCMs 1Blue and 1Splash. Straight run though so I wont know what I have for a little while.

That coop is gonna really be nice when its all done. What color is your house? Does it match?

I want some marans. I was thinking about getting either the French Blue Copper also. And maybe blue wheaten too. My mom asked me what chicken lays those really dark chocolate eggs, so I might have to get some to satisfy her. Lol

My chickens.... Lol. I've upgraded a lot.
I have 5 coops now and a outdoor brooder. Nomore Chicks indoors! Lol

My entire breed list. (Not that big)

Euskal Oiloa Basque Marranduna. I have 3 so far but 20 more should be here before the end of the month.
Gold laced brahmas. I won a bid on a breeding trio that were 6 mothns old. And i have 2 month old chicks.
Silver laced Brahmas. 2 month old breeding pair.
Buff Brahma. 4, 2 month old chicks.
Blue orpingtons 3, 3 month old pullets
1 blue americuana pullet.

Then I still have the barred rock pullets you saw when they were chicks. 2 got abducted by UFO's so I have 8 left. They were born in July so they'll be 3 months soon. I still havemt processed those meaties yet. SMH. Lol.
And I have more. SMH. I was thinking about selling the new ones. Thyre going on 2 months. The big ones going on 3 month

I think I'm good on the meaties for a few years. Lol.

The 1 turkey is still hanging in there. I'll post up a picture in here for you to see it. I don't know if its a boy or a girl.

We are investing a little bit into some really rare breeds to sell. So now we have a chicken business! Lol
And we've only had chickens since June.

We are having NPIP inspectors come and deem us safe and clean sometime before spring starts.
So yea its official I guess.

Really like your turkey coop ,and run, wish I could find some chain link fencing
for cheap, but no such luck...I am going to probably purchase a dog kennel run, at least
to get me started for the winter.

Wow good for you that is great. I think people that dont own chickens would see us as crazy lol. Ive only been doing the poultry since march, Agh and I want to add soooooo much more( my family thinks Im nuts). I think I need a barn and a magic sound barrier so I can have roosters and neighbors wont be disturbed. I hope the buisness goes well. When you figure out your list of rare breeds let me know. Id like to add something fancy to my collection. Will you be shipping hatching eggs or chicks?

Thanks! I like how the coop and run both turned out. I still have a few more things I want to do to it but its put on hold for awhile. Im on my new project of modifying one of my other coops, Adding an addition and covered run. When it is done Ill be back on to doing more things on the tukeys coop and run. Keep your eye on craigslist for chainlink. I see adds all the time for free fences you just may need to take it down and haul it away yourself. That is what my dad and husband did for my fence.
