So here's an update on the chicks. The one that had gotten hurt is doing better but has a little bit of a limp to it still. She also had a little case of pasty butt, but it's a good thing that I treated it as quick as I did. The other sultan chick is doing just fine! Their feathers a growing really quick on the flighty breeds that I have but the Cochin bantams are a little bit slower thn my sultans and OEGB chicks. I wished for a little rooster for an OEGB and I believe I have one. I also hoped for a little boy and girl for my cochin bantams and I believe that's what I have. I do hope that both of my sultans are girls because Rocky had a set of lungs on him, too. Ok so theone that got hurt is missing a toenail just like my sultan hen on the same foot and toe. Is it possible it's the same parent for those two? If so they are sisters!!!
One of my pullets has missing toenails and Charlie does too! It's the toe that juts forward. Charlie started growing a nail after many months, it's a very short, blunt thing still, LOL, but the other toe is still missing any sign of a nail.
Talk about lungs, yah, Charlie is LOUD! He also has always had a distinctive song, and the other boys all sounded different, but since they've been living in the house, they all sing the same song now! It's so funny! Even my baby Serama boys are singing charlie's song now! Too cute!
I'm really lucky my kids and husband like him, 'cause he is loud. He goes to bed in a box which muffles his crows in the morning, but mostly since he is in the dark, he is quiet until morning. He starts crowing in there when he hears people mulling about. I hope I can come up with a better solution someday, one that allows him visits from his girls
At least they're bantams and don't need quite as much room....
