My VIctoria (no red comb yet!) are 8 1/2 weeks and still in the house with me in their big box with a few hours of free roam time in my livingroom with a portable fence and blanket on the floor!!!! I know they are not a hearty breed, so I havent moved them outside to the coop yet. WHEN would be a good time to move them out guys? They have been in 70 degree indoor temps. It will be in the mid 50's this week, but I am thinking that's too cold for them? I can use the heat lamp in the coop, and it's not drafty. I am so worried about getting my babies sick! the other 4 girls are ready to go (2BR and 2 BL RW).

I dont want to move the other 4 out without my Sultans. I dont want to separate them for a few weeks and then try to get them back together. Cluck, what would you do?

At 8 1/2 weeks they'll be just fine outside as long as they're fully feathered. They should not need heat at this point, and yes it is best to move them all at the same time so you don't have to reintroduce them.

My sultan did well through the winter with no need for additional heat :)

that's what I was thinking. I would have normally moved them outside already, but I also got them 2 months earlier than usual. They are featherd out pretty good, I do still see some new feathers coming in though. thanks' Hok! I gotta get you two some photos of Victoria today. Tell me what 'cha think! I am thinking you were right. girl with a boy attitude. LOLOLOLOL

Good luck with the move! I couldn't imagine having mine in the house for that long :p. I usually move mine out to the shop around 6 weeks with heat until they are ready to be without it. They are sooo dusty and stinky!

I know.... I clean the box (scoop the poop!) twice a day and have to dust every single day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo ready to get them out of here!!!! Although I could keep Victoria and Elizabeth in with me as house pets if I could get away with it.

My family would kill me if I did that! Plus being a microbiologist and knowing all the possible microscopic organisms and parasites they carry...as well as dealing with mites in the coop right now...really makes it not so tempting ;)

I got this mystery chick.. who I'm thinking (hoping) is a Sultan! I've always wanted one, and hoping that by chance I ended up with one by surprise! Can't wait until she starts growing some more.
