Victoria had a fight with a cup of applesauce yesterday after her hair cut. She could finally see food in a cup and had no clue what to do with it. After abour 5 minutes she touched it and realized it was food. She went to put her beak in it and sunk it all the way down the cup up over her nostrils. When she lifed her head she had applesauce all over her face and beard and top of her crest. Of course, then she shook it and itgot worse. I love it... lolol
I used a pair of cuticle scissors and held her close to me to trim. I didnt hit any blood on the feathers, just trimmed the actual feathers back around her eyes. It was really easy. I expected a fight and such from them, but then again, come on, this is Victoria we are talking about. She loved to have her neck rubbed, and just strethces her little neck and head out on my arm like I am going to pet her crest. She enjoyed it. Elizabeth? well, she just watched as I did VIctoria and played copy cat. they are so darn funny.

I just moved my girls into the coop next door with a built in nesting box (the kind that pokes out and has a lid) They gave me 5 eggs yesterday! But I had to climb into their coop to get them as they were scattered all over the place. They don't like the bucket I turned on it's side to use as a nesting box. So I knew it was time I finished the (less than 1/2 hour's work) on the other coop and let them in there. They like the new place I think... I'm gonna take pictures of the girls now, then trim their hair if I have time after picking the kids up. Today is their short day at school (LAUSD)

This is Eva (Gabor) She hasn't had a mirror so she doesn't know her beard is dirty, but if I put a mirror in, she'll never leave it!

Can you tell which one is Phillis (Diller)? Yah, this was before the hair cuts, I had nothing to do with that!

Some of my girls have freakishly weird combs. Others are OK. I think there are only 2 or 3 girls I would hatch eggs from, but since I don't know who's laying, I'm not hatching any ;P

Oh they are so pretty!!!! Even post hair cut! How are you keeping them so clean???
I thought I replied here yesterday! Some of them manage to stay semi cleanish (and I took pictures only of them, LOL) Others are pigs and look like they have a capt. Jack Sparrow beard, LOL Straggly and dirty (brownish, yuck!)
So yesterday my girls gave me 5 eggs, and today, 5 more! I think they're doing a wonderful job. 2 were even in the nesting box! (3 were on the floor, LOL) They do seem happier with the hair cuts so I'm glad I did it
It's unfortunate that my Sultan girls are not eating any grass. Their eggs aren't as orangy as my other birds, but still plenty tasty. I'm using them when I want to just make a couple of small pancakes, or other recipes that I just want a little of. It's very useful I do the same with my Serama eggs. Nothing is too small to eat!

My dog killed one of my sultans!
he got a hold of my cochin bantams wing is messed up and the other sultan is fine. My OEGB girl is fine but my self blue roo and my other cochin is missing, too. I can't find them anywhere. I'm going to look again in the morning.

Well I forgot about the photo shoot, went out this morning and it had been pouring raine. Now she is muddy again and her head looks ridiculous. LOL Oh well!
