the sultan thread

Oh NO. So many dog related chick deaths :(. Make sure to look in the morning, they might have run for cover. Shake a food dish or something to try and get them out.

Oh, they are SO CUTE!!!

he got a hold of my cochin bantams wing is messed up and the other sultan is fine. My OEGB girl is fine but my self blue roo and my other cochin is missing, too. I can't find them anywhere. I'm going to look again in the morning.
Oh no! That's awful, I'm so sorry :(
Major fail here. I spent an hour+ bathing Jazzy yesterday and decided to leave to dry. Well I forgot about the photo shoot, went out this morning and it had been pouring raine. Now she is muddy again and her head looks ridiculous. LOL Oh well!

I rehomed two boys yesterday, so I'm down to 2 probably girls and 1 probably boy :)
That figures

It's like having kids and trying to have them presentable for a holiday, and you just look away one second...and they've managed to spill something all over their special clothes! LOL
Can't find them anywhere I assume they are dead:(
Until you find feathers etc... there is still hope!!!

I have 8 sultan girls, and they gave me 8 eggs today!!! Not only that, 7 were in the nest box! I'm so proud of them! Plus, they're eating more grass, I think???!!!

Got around to doing a photo shoot today! Jasmine is amazingly photogenic. She let me lift her head and tail and just held the pose! She loves the attention <3. After I took the pics I trimmed around her eyes a little, but as you can see her feathers hadn't grown out all the way since her last haircut :). Please excuse the flecks in her crest. My silkie roo I got rid of was a mite paradise and gaver her mites, which I've been fighting for over a month now. I think I've got them under control though, but they cement their eggs to the feathers so her head will look like that until she molts.

And here are the kids at 7 weeks :D

I agree, she's so pretty, and it's as if she knows it! LOL. She looks like a sweetie! Mine have been living like "normal" chicks without the attention, however, since Charlie hasn't been living with them, they've become much more personable, which I love! I think Charlie spreads chaos, LOL.

Thank you! She is a sweetheart and I love to pet her. Their feathers are so close to their bodies and smooth that it feels so cool to pet them.

I was super bummed though, I went to a poultry show today and there were NO sultans! Actually there were two listed on the 4-H side but they were no-shows! Such a shame.

Aw, no sultans? I didn't think they were that rare :( I really need to get my butt to a show. I think I missed the April one in Ventura, I'm just so busy at home, ugh! I have to hurry and bake some cookies and cake for a huge family gathering at my sister's today, I'm so darn late, they'll probably be warm when it's time to eat them!
