got woken up at 4:30 again (doesn't bother me, I've always been an early riser) and went down and tried to calm him down so I grabbed him and sat on the couch in the garage and he just fell asleep on my lap for a good 30 minutes, what a sweetie!
Took them outside today and Einstein went nuts over the other girls! I have never seen a more excited chicken in my life. Thank goodness there was a fence... to protect him from the mean girls
That's actually pretty good for shipped eggs They get so jostled, you might think they weren't fertile, but they could have been so internally damaged they didn't even start. That happened to some of mine, only way to know though is to open them up and look.
I'm trying to figure out if I can order a few more Sultans and pay insurance and expect the birds to arrive safely without "packing peanuts" or a bunch of large fowl chicks packed in with them. We'll have mid to high 80's where I live and low 80's where the hatchery is next week, but there is the airplane ride that I worry about as well. Just don't want all those male chicks, I don't have room here to raise meat birds, though I'd love it if I were in the country.... Ugh
