I got some GREAT photos out of Jasmine today! She is such a pretty girl, even with a little mud on her, haha!

She is so pretty! Did you trim back her crest a little so she can see better? I think I'll be doing that as I don't want them to suffer blindness. I'm quite sure there will be no showing in our future ;P

I did, but it's growing back in. I have to get the camera at just the right angle to show her eyes, haha. But yes, once my silkies and her can't see I do trim them a little

I love the eyes of my leghorns, they're the exact color of my youngest daughter's eyes, a light green! So pretty. I can't wait for these chicks to grow up!!!

I'm going through the birds like I do every night and discovered one has been pecked on it's feet feathers and in fact has a bit of blood coming out of the kinked feathers. Is this something to be worried about. This particular bird seems to have more feathers at the moment than the others, kind of an early feather'er. Is there anything I can do to protect his/her foot feathers? I hope this won't cause health issues? Maybe he needs to be separated? It wouldn't seem so bad except I know birds go for blood and as I can see a little on his feet (though it's mostly visible on the bottom of his feet), I'm worried.

That happened to one of mine too. I just washed of the blood put it back in the brooder and kept a close eye on it. It seems to have no health problems concerning it.

Went through all my chicks today and gave them zip tie bracelets so I can tell them apart and take notes on them. 2 of them have only 4 toes on one leg. Many are still suffering from pasty butt, so I cleaned them up again tonight. They're way calmer today than they have been. It might be because it's so late when I started taking care of them (after 10) that they were really sleepy? I don't know? Anyway, getting very sweet now

I'm gonna have to take portraits of them now (knowing which one is which with the colored ties)

I have to still call Ideal about the chicks if they're bantam or regular?? They haven't written me back, but tomorrow is going to be another really busy day!
