The Sussex Club of America

Hi,
I was over at Waltz's Ark website the other day. Just super impressed with their birds. They start late in the season because of their geographic location in CO so have eggs and chicks available now. Their birds are all raised naturally by a Dr. of natural nutrition. The breasts on these Sussex are fab! They do have Light Sussex and have separate pens for their Aussie, US and Canadian lines Plus separate pens for their project mixed strains. I have a small flock of pure English Light Sussex which I got from a US breeder who imported them thru Canada years ago. I really like what I see in them. The Canadian Light Sussex are nice looking birds. Anyway, if I was looking for more Light Sussex, I would check out the Canadian lines for sure!

I know this post reply is old. I ordered Speckled Sussex from Waltz Ark last year. I think 10...the cost was $15 per bird. These birds were terrible, nothing close to SOP. Small, terrible color, spangling a mess, shafting, no depth or width to bodies, way undersized. The cockerels were all culled young due to terrible form, horrible color, bad combs, no depth, looked like they were crossed with Leghorn or something. I will post pics from my other computer if anyone is interested. I do not suggest ordering from them if you are interested in SOP.
I have since acquired my foundation birds from show breeders, have my first 6 month olds on the ground and I am very happy. Well on my way.

Urgent, Urgent, Red Sussex Flock for sale in British Columbia, Canada!!!!

Hi,
I am sharing this for any interested parties.
I found this obscure ad from Jan 8, 2017. Do you have any members in British Columbia
who can see these birds or maybe buy them and hold for other club members? I wonder
if they are dispersing their flock. That's a lot of Reds to sell at one time.
And the price is way too low. I wonder if an old farmer died and the relatives are
selling off his flock? If the flock has been sold, see if anyone can find out who bought them.
Best,
Karen

Hi
got word from people on the ground in B.C. Looks like this is a flock of hybrids which the hatchery they came from calls Red Sussex. Not an obscure flock sigh. Oh well, was good to check on them anyway. That explains the low prices.
